Music opens the highest gates in heaven.
- Chassidic Wisdom

From Our Cantor

Music has a special place in the life of Beth David, as an aspect of prayer that helps us forge our personal connection to the service. Our music is not defined by a single genre or style. It is eclectic, ranging from traditional liturgal, classical Reform, Chassidic, and Sephardic, to contemporary and folk. At a Beth David service, you will find many of the tunes familiar, but will also have a chance to learn new prayers and new melodies. Regardless of style, music is at the core of our celebrations and worship at Beth David.

Beth David has evolved musically from our classical Reform roots, when congregants were more observers than participants. In today's service, we encourage full congregational participation, from the opening Nigun to the closing song, while still keeping a place for the Cantorial solo. Please join us, and add your voice to our worship.

On several occasions each year, our service is enhanced by the participation of our volunteer choir. We are always looking for new members. Rehearsals take place about 2 or 3 times per month. You don't need a professionally trained voice. If you love to sing, we'd love to have you.

If you have any questions about the choir, or about music at Beth David, please contact me at 610-896-7485 or lkazansky@bdavid.org.
