Beth David Women of Reform Judaism

The mission of Beth David Women of Reform Judaism is to work together to:

  • Provide spiritual, social, cultural, and intellectual enrichment for today's Jewish women and their families through education, community action, political awareness, and service to Beth David and the greater community

  • Share Jewish traditions, family values, and friendships

  • Create leaders and role models

All women congregants are invited to join Beth David Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ), which is an energetic and interesting group of women of all ages. (Note: non-congregants who support our principles and goals are also welcome to join.) We work together to provide social, spiritual and intellectual enrichment for our members, the synagogue and the wider community through education, political awareness and service, having fun while we do so.

Programs

WRJ has organized a fun event for Sunday, July 30th, at 2pm. Come join us for a matinee performance of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic, Carousel. This much-loved musical is presented by the theater arts department of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. Close to home, it's only a one-hour drive from Beth David's parking lot. We'll be carpooling.

Muhlenberg's Summer Broadway Series includes performances by members of Actors Equity (paid professionals) as well as many gifted students. The director and the talented young cast will participate in a question-and-answer session after the show. Dinner at a nearby restaurant may also be on our agenda.

This is your chance to see great regional theater, of near-Broadway quality, for a distinctly non-Broadway price -- only $36! Remember that your participation will benefit WRJ's many good causes and support Beth David.

Please email Barbara Grancell-Frank (timjoesmom@comcast.net) if you wish to share an entertaining summer afternoon with the ladies. (Gentlemen are also invited.) Let us know as soon as possible if you'll attend. The first block of seats has already been sold out.

Exercise Class
WRJ's ongoing exercise class meets on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 in the Social Hall. A new 10-week session starts April 25. This is a great workout that includes strength training. For information contact June Appel.

Book Groups
WRJ sponsors three book discussion groups.

The Monday night group is reading Gilead by Marilynne Robinson for discussion on May 1. Contact Anita Lichtenberg for more information about the Monday night book group, and Jodi Sussman for information about the Wednesday night book group.

The two book groups join together with our significant others for a Sunday pot luck supper and book discussion a few times a year. Contact June Appel for more information.

Gift Shop
No matter what the occasion, you'll find an appropriate and beautiful gift at the WRJ gift shop. There is an assortment of merchandise from baby gifts to premium wines, designer Judaica to chic jewelry. Almost everything is discounted, and free gift wrap is available. Contact Linda Brock for information.

For more information on any activity of Beth David Women of Reform Judaism, or to request a calendar of events, contact June Appel, WRJ President.
