![]() SynaplexSynaplex™ is an initiative that combines the multiple functions of the synagogue asBeit Tefillah — a house of prayer,Beit Midrash — a house of learning, and Beit Knesset — house of gathering — and features unique and lively programming that is fun, inspirational, and uplifting. The name Synaplex™ is a deliberate imitation of the “Cineplex” experience where you can experience a variety of movies. Our goal is to make the fifth Friday come alive with unique worship and learning opportunities as well as a time to connect and have fun. Synaplex™ offers a broad range of themed activities for all ages to provide congregants with an enriching Shabbat experience. For example, an Israel-themed Synaplex included tasting Israeli wine for adults and jumping on a giant floor-map of Israel for children. "Synaplex around the World" featured the work of a photographer who visited synagogues in different countries and continents, plus a range of foods for dinner. These and all Synaplexes also included a time to gather for Shabbat worship and prayer. Synaplex™ is an initiative of STAR (Synagogues: Transformation and Renewal) and is a philanthropic partnership of the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, The Steinhardt Foundation for Jewish Life, and The Samuel Bronfman Foundation. Synaplex™ is made possible by grants from UJA-Federation of New York and STAR |
